Anse Aux Pins

Origin of Name and History

Anse Aux Pins owns its name to the casuarinas trees that used to grow abundantly there. “Pins” is the French translation of pinewood which is the casuarina timber. Anse Aux Pins is mountainous with many streams running to the low lying areas of Anse Aux Pins Central with thick vegetation.

Community Facilities and Services

The Anse Aux Pins District has various community facilities and services at the benefit of the inhabitants. Such includes:

One Community Centre; One Day Care Centre; one Primary School and Creche; One Roman Catholic Church, One Police Station; and One Health Centre.

Anse Aux Pins District Administration Office

Seychelles is divided into 26 Districts and each District having its

Administration Office.  Anse Aux Pins is one of these Administrative Districts. The  District Administration Office headed by a District Administrator serves as an interface between the Local and Central Government.

The Office provides a variety of social and community programmes and services through effective networking and collaboration with various Government Agencies, NGOs and Private Agencies. Such services includes:

• Welfare assistance applications by Agency for Social Protection 
• Services by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Family 

The youth of the district are actively involved in various sports and cultural activities.

Districts Logo and Motto

The District’s Logo with motto represents and signifies abounding in casuarina trees which protect its  coastline; so the young ones can safely bathe in its tepid waters whilst the adults go out to its protected reefs to harvest some of the prized seafood; today associated with top scoring football teams; proud and determined; Anse Aux Pins will continue “Fighting for Excellence”
