Anse Boileau

Origin of Name and History

The district derived its name from an 18^th century Fench Cpatain named “Boileau” who in 1790 arrived in Seychelles in his ship “Archille”. However history teaches us that the district was discovered by Lazare Picaud who landed at Anse Boileau ,who accidentally taught it was Baie Lazare.  

Community Facilities and Services

The Anse Boileau District has various community facilities and services at the benefit of the inhabitants. Such includes:  One Primary School, One Secondary School, One playing field, One Community Centre, One Mini Hall, One Multi Purpose Court, One Roman Catholic Church and One Day Care Centre.

Location

Anse Boileau District lies on the Western Coast of Mahe about 24km form Victoria, the capital. As a coastal district, it is situated between Baie Lazare in the South and Grand Anse in the North. The coastal plains of Anse Boileau spread northwards towards the lowlands of Barbarons and Bon Espoir Estate and westwards the mountainous Forest region of Burlee where endemic species of Palms grow.

Districts Logo and Motto

The District’s Logo with motto “Striving together for Prosperity” represents and signifies a strong fishing and agricultural district, provider of many of the islanders’ basic needs, graced with an idyllic coastline where some believe Lazare Picault first landed, whilst nature-shaped majestic boulders that one cannot miss when passing through the district.
