Origin of Name and History
Au Cap District was created in 1997. Au Cap has many interesting features. Its coastline is sheltered by the headland (Le Cap) and the plains were once thriving coconut plantations.
Community Facilities and Services
The Au Cap District has various community facilities and services at the benefit of the inhabitants. Such includes: One Day Care Centre; one Primary School and Creche; One playing field with international standard, a mini Hall and multi purpose court and Roman Catholic Church at Pointe Au Sel.
Location
The Au Cap District lies on the South East coast of Mahe between Anse Royale in the South and Anse Aux Pins in the North. Its 3 km coastline stretches from the junction of Reef Estate and La Plaine St Andre.
Districts Logo and Motto
The District’s Logo with motto “Building upon Charm Together” depicts a district whose coastline is sheltered by a headland (Le Cap), whose coastal plain lent itself to plantation farming, inside their doors the Creole culture is upheld, in both the traditional and the modern.

Sub DistrictsThe District is made up of seventeen sub-districts and they are: Turtle Bay 1 and 2, Gaza Estate, Jerusalem Estate, Mandarine Estate, Val Des Pres Estate, St. Roch, St. Joseph Estate, La Plaine St. Andre, Anse Aux Courbe, Sawa Sawa Farm, D’Offay Estate, Reef Estate – Longue Mare, Green Estate, Hermitte Estate, Capucin, Pointe Au Sel - Upper Moripa, Pointe Au Sel 1 and 2 (dan Tol, anba Zanmalak, upper pointe Au Sel), Pointe Au Sel (Sadeco area), Cap Lelefan, Cacao Estate, Montagne Posée.
