Past Students giver back to the Beau Vallon Community
After exactly 20 years, the first cohort of Secondary 5 students of Beau Vallon returned to give back to the school. This time it was on Monday 8th July and due to potential rainy weather, an assembly was organized at the Beau Vallon Community Centre whereby the past students through the Head Teacher Mr. Philip Morel donated some equipment and study materials to the school namely 10 white boards, 2 printers, 2 laptops, 4 dozen white board markers and 10 white board dusters. The donation was made possible as the past students mobilized themselves and collected some cash to meet the expenses. The ceremony was attended by current students of the Secondary School and also present were some teachers who have been teaching at the school for the last 20 years and beyond received each a hamper as a sign gratitude and encouragement.
The ceremony was also witnessed by Principal Secretary for Youth and Sports Mr. Fabien Palmyre, the School Parent Teachers Association’s Chairman and members. During the short ceremony, the Head Teacher delivered a short speech whereby he expressed gratitude to the past students and for this kind gesture. The school and the community is in so much need that such idea is so much welcomed hence other individuals or groups are encouraged to follow such initiative.
The event continued with more interaction between the donors and the students through talks and sports activities. This “give back gesture” brought back some great memories and it was conducted in the memory of late Sir Selby Esparon who passed away 4 months ago.
