MLGCA honoured with Pride of Seychelles Award for 7th December Disaster response efforts
The Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs is one of the proud recipients of this year’s Pride of Seychelles Award. The award was presented to top officials of the Ministry by President Wavel Ramkalawan at State House on June 29, 2024, for the Ministry’s exceptional response to the disasters of December 7, 2023.
This award is the result of the teamwork and dedication of all of our resilient staff members who ensured the safety of people’s lives and homes, and that no man, woman or child affected by the disasters would go without the basic needs of food, water, and shelter.
We did this together for Seychelles and remain committed to serving all of its people, as per our mandate. The award serves as a reminder of the tenet that says “If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
A special thank you goes out to our district brigade volunteers, our partners such as Red Cross, the NGOs that stepped up to give us a helping hand, and the many people who donated to our centres.
