BAIE LAZARE

District Administrator

The name of the Baie Lazare District originates from the name of the French adventurer Lazare Picault, who discovered Mahe, while investigating the whole island of Seychelles. It was with the bay (Baie) of Anse Gaulette that Lazare Picault was presumed to have landed.
It is good to note that it has been later proven by historian that Lazare Picault in fact landed at what today is known as Anse Boileau. But never the less the inhabitants of Baie lazare is proud of their district’s name.
Baie Lazare is also surrounded by beautifully white sandy beaches that are great attractions to many visitors.
